§ 22 Bewirtung
(1) Eine Bewirtung ist nur im Rahmen von internen Fortbildungsveranstaltungen sowie Arbeitsessen und in einem angemessenen und sozialadäquaten Umfang zulässig. Der Anlass eines Arbeitsessens ist zu dokumentieren. Eine Bewirtung von Begleitpersonen ist unzulässig sofern diese nicht zwingend zur Unterstützung eines HCP erforderlich sind (vgl. § 20 Abs. 7).
(2) Für die Bemessung der Angemessenheit und Sozialadäquanz bei Bewirtungen im Ausland findet ausschließlich der jeweils am Veranstaltungsort Anwendbare Kodex Anwendung (Gastgeberlandprinzip).
(3) Zur Auslegung des Begriffs „angemessen“ im Sinne dieser Bestimmung erlässt der Vorstand des ereins verbindliche Leitlinien nach § 6 Abs. 2.

GUIDELINES REGARDING THE VALUE OF MEALS OFFERED TO HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS DURING SCIENTIFIC EVENTS
In accordance with article 31, 2bis, of the pharma.be Code of deontology, the value of the meals provided, drinks included, may under no circumstances exceed the limits as laid down. These limits are as follows:
A. For events that take place over several successive days, including the related hospitality, which according to article 72 of the Code are subject to a visa procedure:
- The value of a lunch, drinks included, may not exceed 40 euros.
- The value of a dinner, drinks included, may not exceed 80 euros.
B. For events that take place during one day only and that are not subject to a visa procedure:
- The value of the meals may not exceed 40 euros per lunch and 80 euros per dinner, all included (drinks, tax, room hire, etc.), at the market price.
- The maximum hospitality of 40 euros (lunch) + 80 euros (dinner) can only be offered if the programme includes at least six hours of scientific activities.

19.9. All promotional, scientific or professional meetings, conferences, congresses, symposia and other similar Events, or each particular Event organised or carried out with the sponsorship of a company, must take place in a proper establishment, which contributes to the main purpose of the Event and offers hospitality, only in accordance with the regulations of any applicable code(s). For the purposes of this section the words ‘’proper establishment’’ shall not include extravagant establishments, namely: with a reputation for being the best venue or hotel in the country or town, but shall include reasonable establishments, namely: those which Healthcare Professionals would be willing to pay for personal purposes or appropriate establishments, namely those: with standard hotel meeting rooms, conference centres, hospital or clinic premises; and in any case, a €70 threshold per person per meal applies for Events and congresses held locally (excluding taxes and tips). Accommodation threshold for local hospitality is €250 per night. For Events and congresses held internationally, the list of daily thresholds applicable per city/country should be followed according to the country’s local industry association and if no reference is made therein, a €90 threshold applies per person per meal.

Section 13.8. Companies must not provide or offer meals (food and beverages) to healthcare professionals, except in those cases where the value of such meal does not exceed one of the following monetary thresholds: DKK 450 for lunch, DKK 850 for dinner or DKK 1,400 covering all meals at all-day meetings/conferences, etc. The monetary thresholds apply to meals in Denmark. 9.1 Hospitality
Hospitality offered to healthcare professionals should always be appropriate, secondary to the educational content and in proportion to the respective event. Hospitality offered in the form of meals should be limited to the amount of € 75 per the main course (lunch/dinner), € 100 for an all-day meal in the Slovak Republic and the amount of € 100 for the main course abroad.

Providing meals (food and beverages) to healthcare professionals, members of healthcare organisations or representatives of patient organisations is allowed on the condition that the value of such a meal (food and beverages) in Estonia does not exceed the monetary threshold of 80 euros per person plus VAT. The monetary threshold for meals (food and beverages) outside of Estonia is the threshold set by the country (i.e. the Host Country Principle must be followed).

Business meals with HCPs
It is permitted to organise business meals outside the scope of scientific events in areas appropriate for the purpose of the meeting. In any case, the daily cost per meal cannot exceed EUR 70, including VAT.
The cost of meals per participant should not exceed EUR 70 (excluding VAT) per day abroad and EUR 70 (including VAT) per day in Greece. The same cost of meal applies also for foreign HCPs who participate in scientific events held in Greece.

Sub-section 6.4.8 – Hospitality at manifestations within reasonable bounds
In addition to sub-section 6.4.1. under a, it applies to hospitality at manifestations that:
1. the costs of that hospitality for account of the authorisation holder, per healthcare professional, do not exceed the sums which are strictly necessary and at any rate do not exceed €75 per occasion and €375 per year; and
2. the arrangements for the hospitality provided are recorded in a written agreement in which the execution should be clearly defined. Clause 19.2 Maximum Cost of a Meal
The maximum of £75 plus VAT and gratuities is appropriate only in very exceptional circumstances, such as a dinner at a residential meeting for senior consultants or a dinner at a learned society conference with substantial educational content. The cost of a meal (including drinks) should normally be well below this figure. The requirements relating to hospitality in Clause 19.1 and its supplementary information still apply.
The maximum of £75 plus VAT and gratuities (or local equivalent) does not apply when a meeting is held outside the UK in a european country where the national association is a member of EFPIA and thus covered by EFPIA Codes. 3. Limit for hospitality in the Czech Republic
Hospitality offered or provided to healthcare professionals in connection with the promotion or meetings in the Czech Republic must not exceed the amount of CZK 3600 (VAT included) per HCP per one day for food and beverages (maximum 1500 CZE per one lunch and 1500 CZE per one dinner) The maximum hospitality can be offered only if the programme includes at least 6 hours of scientific activities. If the programme includes less than 6 hours of scientific activities the limit must not exceed the amount of CZK 1500 for hospitality.
4. Limit for hospitality provided abroad
Hospitality offered or provided to healthcare professionals in connection with the promotion or meetings abroad must not exceed the amount of € 150 (VAT included), respectively equivalent in the relevant foreign currency, per HCP per one day for food and beverages (maximum € 75 per one lunch and € 75 per one dinner). The maximum hospitality can be offered only if the programme includes at least 6 hours of scientific activities. If the programme includes less than 6 hours of scientific activities the limit must not exceed the amount of € 75 for hospitality.
5. Common and final provisions
If a different limit for hospitality is valid abroad (determined by generally binding legal regulations or ethical codes of the local association), the AIFP member company shall respect the local limit. If no limit for hospitality is valid abroad the AIFP member company shall respect the limits set by the AIFP for hospitality provided abroad.

Section 10.05 Member Companies must not provide or offer any meal (food and beverages) to HCPs, HCOs’ members or POs’ Representatives, unless, in each case, the value of such meal does not exceed the monetary threshold set by the ARPIM Code.

Q&A clarifies: For the purposes of p. 3.3.6 of the Code, the term ""reasonable limits"" refers to the average cost of meals at events of such type (taking into account the duration of an event and number of participants) conducted by pharmaceutical companies in a particular region or in the whole country. AIPM member companies should have specific cost limits set by their internal documents.

15 Principles of integrity
15.4 Payment for meals (including beverages) on a reasonable and modest scale, subject to a maximum amount of CHF 100 per healthcare professional per meal is only permitted in the context of a technical discussion or in direct relation to an event. This amount applies only to discussions held with healthcare professionals working in Switzerland and/or representatives of healthcare organisations domiciled in Switzerland or events which are held in Switzerland. For events that are held abroad, the limits set out in the code which claims territorial validity for the host country apply to all the participants, regardless of where they have their primary practice or definitive business address or their registered office.

16.6. Upper threshold for meals: (EFPIA, 10.05) 75€/person/meal. Member companies shall not supply, provide or offer any meal (food and beverages) not compliant with the following condition to healthcare professionals: In each case/each meal; the cost of the meal (food and beverages) supplied, provided or offered to healthcare professionals shall not exceed the upper monetary level of 75€/person/meal, including VAT. The upper limit for meals of the host country applies in meetings outside Turkey. (EFPIA, 10.05.) The upper limit of AIFD shall apply in case no meal limit is specified in the host country.

8.6.2 Limits of Hospitality:
Hospitality should be limited to refreshments and/or meals incidental to the main purpose of the Event and should only be provided: (i) to participants of the Event and not their guests; and (ii) if it is moderate and reasonable as judged by local standards. As a general rule, the hospitality provided should not exceed what HCP recipients would normally be prepared to pay for themselves. APRAD establishes the following thresholds for meals and refreshments: (i) 300 UAH per meal per a HCP and the overal hospitality expenses per day should not exceed 570 UAH (for non-personalised meals during conferences, seminars, etc.); (ii) up to 800 UAH per meal for an individual interaction when a contract between a company and HCP is concluded or in line with the current Ukrainian legislation.
